The pace car had just left the track after 35 minutes, when Audi lost its most serious contender. The #26 MG, which drove in the R8s' wake from the beginning, stopped in the new part of the Dunlop curve. The mechanics were dispatched on site to advise the driver. Unfortunately for English fans, a broken transmission definitively quashed Warren Hugues' hopes.

A problem that works to the #8 Bentley's advantage as it moves into 4th place in its quest for a spot on the podium.

At Cadillac, they're having their ups and downs. While the #7 is stacking up problems, the #6 is running a trouble-free race that has earned it 5th place.

At Oreca, they've been spared for the most part, since the #15 and 14 are placed in 6th and 9th places respectively.

The #19 Panoz/Mugen has apparently not found a solution; since the car is repitted. The senior driver in this year's race, Francois Migault, gave himself a big scare when the brake pedal went out in the Arnage corner. The driver managed, however, to avoid an accident and returned to the pits to change his brake fluid.

The #58 Ferrari from the Prodrive team is continuing its flawless run, which is enabling it to take 14th in the overall standing. Same thing for the #80 Porsche (Freisinger) which is holding its own and still ahead in the GT category.

The list of retirements is getting longer with the official retirement of the #53 Viper Chrysler as it drove straight off the track, and the #30 that caught fire and caused the safety car to come out for the first time.
